- Crude Birth Rate is the number of births per one thousand of the population.
- Crude Death Rate is the number of deaths per one thousand of the population.
- Rate Of Natural Increase (RNI) is produced by subtracting the death rate from the birth rate which gives us the annual natural growth rate in percent form for the country or region.
Migration
- Net Migration Rate is the difference between the number of persons entering and leaving a country during a year.
- an excess of persons entering the country in net migration is written as a positive number such as Canada has 5.65 migrants per one thousand of the population and the U.S. has 2.45 per one thousand of the population.
- an excess of persons leaving a country is net emigration which is written as a negative number such as Mexico has -1.68 migrants per one thousand of the population.
